CLEVELAND -
The Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office has positively identified the body of a man who was found burned beyond recognition in a sport utility vehicle on July 31.
Trent Willis, 41, of Euclid, was identified through dental records.
The coroner has officially listed the manner of death as homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the neck.
Shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, Cleveland firefighters were called to Ovington Avenue for reports of a car on fire.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the SUV behind a vacant home.
According to Larry Gray, spokesman for the Cleveland Fire Department, after fighting the blaze for 29 minutes and putting it out, the fire department called police at 4:35 a.m. and requested a tow truck.
Gray tells Fox 8 News, "Because the request for the tow was a low priority, police did not arrive until after 8 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a body inside the car."
