The city of Canton has disappeared. Users of Google Maps discovered the problem late last week. When you search the popular map program for Canton, Ohio you are shown a map of Massillon, Ohio. Upon further investigation, users discovered that where Canton used to be, the name has been changed to Colesville.

"Colesville, where is Colesville....I've never even heard of that, I've lived here my whole life," said an anonymous Canton resident.

While it appears to be a simple error, some believe it to be a consipracy. The theory goes like this; this week the Massillon Tigers football team travels to Canton to play Canton McKinley Bulldogs. Some believe that someone intentionally hacked the Google Maps site and changed it to give Massillon a moral advantage in this weekends game.

Finally, some alleged Canton Historians believe it's correct.

Eddy McLoud, who has no evidence to support his theory, says "That (Colesville) is the township that was here way before they came up with the city name Canton, Ohio.

A Google spokesperson, says there is no conspiracy, it is a mistake that is being correct. "We have received reports of this error and are working on fixing it as soon as possible, says Elaine Filadelfo of Google Global Communications and Public Affairs.
