GENEVA, Ohio -- The son of a Northeast Ohio pastor is one of two people killed in a church van accident in Oregon. The pastor's daughter was seriously hurt.

Joshua Pishcura, 20, of Geneva, died shortly after the accident at 5:20 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 84 near Baker City, Oregon. His sister Katy Pishcura, 18, is recovering in a hospital.

"He had a heart for God and for reaching out to the lost," said Jason Rembacki, member of New Life Assembly of God in Geneva. Josh and Katy are the children of Pastor Harry Pishcura and his wife Dawn.

Oregon State Police say 16 members of a Colorado church group were in the van when it hit black ice, lost control and rolled over several times. Police say nearly everyone was ejected from the vehicle.

Two people died, fourteen were injured. Two remain in critical condition.

Members of New Life Assembly of God in Geneva say Joshua Pishcura and his sister were in Colorado as part of a church program for people studying to enter the ministry.

The group was headed to a conference in Portland, Oregon when the accident happened.

"They run a lot of community programs for the children of our city who are less fortunate, tutoring, dance classes, music, recreation, they run them for free," said Christy Gimer with New Life Worship Center in Federal Heights, Colorado.

New Life members held a candlelight vigil in honor of the victims Thursday. Members of the Geneva congregation also held a prayer vigil at the church Thursday night to help members cope with the tragedy.

"For something like this to happen, it's always a shock to everybody, but after everybody got together we're alot more comforted by it, knowing where he'll be," said Rembecki.

Deacon John Mackey tells Fox 8 News that Pastor Harry Pishcura and his wife, Dawn, left for the west coast early Friday morning.
