ALLIANCE, Ohio -
The outburst on Monday was sudden. 40-year-old Stacey Goodwin leaping from her seat in an Alliance courtroom jumping Lori Osterland from behind, screaming "she killed my daughter"
Osterland was in court answering to charges that include involuntary manslaughter and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
She is accused of contributing to the death of Goodwin's 20 year old daughter Carrie who died after a night of partying last February.
Investigators say Osterland, Carri Goodwin and Carrie's sister Misty were out drinking and stopped at a Main Street Bar in Alliance
Carrie was passed out in the back seat of the car when her sister and Osterland went inside the bar and left her there.
She died of what the coroner later determined to be acute alcohol intoxication and hypothermia. The temperature outside at the time was 28 degrees.
Misty Goodwin faces the same charges as Osterland for contributing to her sister's death.
On Monday, as Osterland approached the bench in her hearing, Stacy Goodwin suddenly and unexpectedly lept from her seat in the courtroom as Fox 8 Cameras were rolling.
Because of the outburst Goodwin was before an Alliance Municipal Judge on Wednesday charged with misdemeanor assault, Intimidation of a witness and Obstruction of official business which are felonies.
"When we have these outbursts inside the courtroom they have to be immediately addressed and addressed with a degree of severity" Alliance Law Director Andrew Zumbar tells Fox 8 News saying he is sympathetic to Goodwin's emotions.
"She is suffering grief and emotions and extreme levels of anger, frustration. We understand that she has those emotions but we cannot allow her or anybody else to take the law into their own hands." Zumbar adds
Because of the previous outburst and to avoid any additional confrontations, Goodwin's arraignment Wednesday was conducted quickly and scheduled so that cameras and even her own family was not yet in the courtroom.
Her sister, Billie Orzo, told Fox 8's Dave Nethers she will not make excuses for Goodwin's outburst in the courtroom but she wanted to be in the courtroom Wednesday and was upset that she couldn't be there to show support.
"The court did do this intentional, to keep the peace, we were upset that we couldn't be there we wanted Stacey to know that we were there for her morally, and we are behind her and we are praying for her." Orzo said.
Goodwin's son also wanted to be in court, telling Fox 8 his sisters death has destroyed their family and having his mother in jail only pours salt on the wound.
"Its just weird to see my mom in jail, really a victim through all of this, is in jail and everybody else is out walking free"
Osterland posted 25-thousand dollars bond and is out of jail, but prosecutors have set bond for Goodwin at 150-thousand dollars believing that after her courtroom outburst she is best kept in jail where she and everyone else can be safe.
The city prosecutor says he will not support any bond reduction for Goodwin at this time.
"Given the outburst of hers we placed as severe charges on her as we could, we believe that to be warranted and the bond has been set at a level that can ensure us that we will maintain her in a position of custody at this point." Zumbar Said.
