Cavs' West Faces More Weapons Charges in Maryland
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West is facing additional weapons and traffic charges in connection to his Sept. 17 arrest in Prince George's County, Md.

The 26-year-old West was indicted Tuesday on two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of carrying a handgun, two counts of transporting a handgun, and one each for reckless driving and negligent driving. Each weapons count carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.

West was initially charged with just two counts of carrying a handgun and speeding. Authorities say he was riding a three-wheel motorcycle on the Capital Beltway in Upper Marlboro when he cut off an officer, who pulled him over. Police found two loaded handguns on him and a loaded shotgun in a guitar case strapped to his back.

A statement released by General Manager Danny Ferry reads, "It is our understanding that today's developments are part of the legal process that continues to take place with Delonte and he and his legal counsel will handle that. We will continue to take this matter very seriously and monitor and respect the legal process as it proceeds, but not speculate or comment about it."
