According to Eastlake police, Nancy Udovicic Rose was found dead by her 7-year-old child Wednesday morning. A coroner's report lists strangulation as the cause of death.
Rose was a critical care nurse at Huron Hospital, and a mother of two.
Sunday evening, friends, neighbors and colleagues gathered outside her home on East 331st Street, to mourn her loss.
Branka Kickel, a longtime friend, organized the vigil.
"Your time came too soon," Kickel read a poem aloud, through tears. "Your life was over in a flash."
Mourners prayed and lit candles in Rose's memory.
Friends tell Fox 8 News they are still struggling to come to terms with her untimely death, and her estranged husband's arrest.
"I knew they were having problems but I would have never dreamt it would have come to this," explains longtime friend Jenny Torres.
Gina Chismar has been close with Rose since the two were children. She says what is most difficult is knowing that someone with such compassion could meet such a violent end.
"She lived her life to save other people's lives," Chismar says. "Now that her life is gone...why wasn't anybody there to help her?"
Fellow nurses from Huron Hospital were also among the crowd Saturday. They say Rose's death has had a profound affect on her co-workers.
"This is a disaster for the nursing community. It's a great loss," explains colleague Lashelle Henderson. "Everyone is devastated."
According to Lake County Common Pleas Court, Rose filed for divorce on December 4th, and had a protection order against her husband.
Gregg Rose is charged with one count of murder. He is in the Lake County jail under a 500-thousand dollar bond.
