The city of Twinsburg is looking to cut 25 firefighters, Twinsburg Mayor Katherine Procop says.
"We are looking at the reduction of all of our part-time firefighters, that is 25 part-time firefighters," Procop says. "It's going to have some impact there is no doubt in my mind, but as far as safety itself, no, I don't think so."
The layoffs are due to the expected closing of the Chrysler Stamping Plant, which will reduce income tax revenue.
The cost cutting measures will be implemented in several other areas of the city as well.
