MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Friday morning, hundreds of people came together to pay their respects to the brave men and women who died while serving our country.
During this year's Memorial Day Ceremony, Ohio State Rep. Timothy DeGeeter unveiled a new sign that will be placed on I-71 in Middleburg Heights.
The section of the highway will now be named, "Cpl. Brad Squires Memorial Highway" in honor of fallen marine Brad Squires, who died in June 2005 while serving in Iraq.
Cpl. Squires graduated from Berea High School. His mother Donna was at today's ceremony. She told the crowd she's grateful for the support she's received from the community.
"The sign that will be on the highway will be in remembrance of Brad, but also in memory of every veteran that has given the ultimate sacrifice, so thank you."
