A local school district is warning parents about a telemarketing scheme.

The superintendent of Lakewood Schools says someone claiming to be a guidance councelor has been calling parents, offering a program to improve their child's SAT score.

The telemarketer asks for a credit card number to purchase an educational CD for $109.

Lakewood Superintendent Dr. David Estrop says, "We have nothing to do with this sales pitch, this is not a Lakewood High School guidance councelor. We have nothing to do with the product, i don't even know if there is a product."

Lakewood police have now launched an investigation into the telemarketing scheme.
