LORAIN, Ohio -- Some Lorain Residents say something stinks in their backyard. For the past several months, residents on Riverside Drive have noticed a large pile up of trash, down the hill behind their homes, which backs up to the Black River Metro Park Reservation.

Carole Freeman, a 37 year resident of the street, said the dumping of trash down the hill behind her home, just started and is out of control.

"Personally, it makes me very angry," said Freeman. She said rats have now started climbing up the hill and into her backyard.

James Adkisson, a 30 year resident of the street agrees. "It's a lot of trash down there and it needs to be cleaned up," said Adkisson.

The city of Lorain is now taking action. Mayor Tony Krasienko issued a statement which reads in part: "Illegal dumping continues to be a chronic issue in Lorain, but with assistance from Lorain County Solid Waste District, Lorain County Sheriff Stamitti and Lorain County Commissioners, we now have resources to investigate and prosecute these offenders"

The Sheriff's Department just began an investigation and they say whoever is responsible may face felony charges.
