GREEN, Ohio - A drunk driver whose license was suspended for life for killing a police officer, is accused of DUI once again.

Just before 10:00 p.m. Sunday, authorities say a customer saw a man who appeared to be intoxicated inside the Bellstores convenience store on Mayfair Road in the city of Green.

"They went and attempted to block this person in, the driver got in the car, maneuvered around the citizen's car and took off driving," explained Inspector William Holland of the Summit County Sheriff's Department.

The customer then called police and followed the swerving driver to a nearby home on Spade Road. Summit County Sheriff's deputies who arrived at his home, say the man behind the wheel was 47-year old Gregory Gordon.

This revelation is beyond hurtful for the family of the officer who was killed by Gordon.

"I think he should be locked up again, and all this crap about remorse and treatment while he was in prison, that's didn't do no good, it didn't do no good...it's 15 years later," said Rosalyn Knaff, cousin of the deceased police officer.

Gordon served 10 years in prison for a drunk driving accident that killed Akron police officer George Knaff in 1994.

According to investigators, he ran a stop sign and hit Knaff's cruiser. Gordon was released from prison in 2005... his driver's license, suspended for life.

Family members are shocked Gordon would have the audacity to get behind the wheel again.

"They should take a real long, hard look at him cause he has served time, you would think that 10 years would really absolutely give him the courage to be remorseful for real from the heart for what he did," said Knaff.

Easily the most disturbing aspect, is the fact that Gordon was arrested for DUI back in 2006 after his release from prison.

Sheriff's deputies say they applaud the store customer who they say went above and beyond his civic duty.

"This was late at night, I'm sure they were tired, they could easily have just said I hope they make it home and got in their car and gone home," said Inspector Holland.

Gordon is charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.

He was not arrested. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
