The Detroit Avenue restaurant is offering a 25% discount to anyone who gets a grilled cheese sandwich tattoo. "We ask people to take our core logo and kinda change it around, make it something personal to them," said owner Matt Fish.
Fish opened the west side location in 2006 with a menu of various sandwiches that aren't for the faint of heart. "Our signature sandwiches sell the best," said Fish. "We do a potato and cheese pierogi sandwich called the Parmageddon, which sells really well. We do a sandwich called the Big Popper which is our take on the jalapeno popper."
"I think it's awesome," said Jennifer Vorous from North Royalton. "There's so much food you could have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it's to die for!"
Customers can go anywhere for the tattoo, but Melt is running a cross promotion with Voodoo Monkey Tattoo on W. 25th in Cleveland. "Anybody that does get a Melt tattoo, we take $25 off the price of the tattoo, just for the promotion," said tattoo artist John Forgus. "I actually did one of Popeye holding a grilled cheese instead of a spinach can and a couple of angels."
The tattoo promotion will continue indefinitely and the discounts are good for life.
Melt is located at 14718 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood and a second location is opening in a few months in Cleveland Heights. Voodoo Monkey is located at 2074 W. 25th in Cleveland.
