AKRON - An early-morning police chase ends with two Akron police officers in the hospital.

The accident happened around three o'clock Thursday morning, as the officers were responding to the Copley Road area, during a pursuit.

The suspects, inside a stolen Nissan Altima, ran the red light at the intersection of Copley Road and Madison Avenue, and struck the cruiser in the passenger side.

The force of the crash pushed the car over the curb, where it came to rest against a fire hydrant.

Both officers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Also being treated are the suspects, identified as 24-year-old Dontrell Parker of Cleveland, and his 18-year-old female passenger.

The Akron Police Department's Traffic Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash. No charges have yet been filed.

The department is not releasing the names of the officers involved in the crash, per policy.
