CLEVELAND -
Fire crews rushed to the scene of an early morning blaze at a private school campus on Cleveland's west side, Fox 8 News reports.
The well involved fire did visible damage to a historic building near Eleanor Gerson West Middle School on the Applewood Centers Children's Aid Society campus at the intersection of West 104th Street and Detroit Avenue. It started just before 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Applewood executive director Melanie Falls tells Fox 8 News that the structure was not a school building. She says it was basically unoccupied with only a few items from the school stored there.
A spokesperson for the Cleveland Fire Department tells Fox 8 News that nobody was injured.
An official cause and a damage estimate have not yet been determined. After approximately three hours, crews were able to clear the scene. Falls says that it is too early to say whether or not the building will be torn down or rebuilt.
The fire had no impact on children going to school Wednesday. School and services continued as usual.
