Royal Carribbean's Oasis of the Seas

HELSINKI - Royal Caribbean International took delivery Wednesday of its newest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas, from STX Europe in Turku, Finland.

Kicking off the 12-day countdown until her U.S. debut into Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 11, Oasis of the Seas departs Turku today with Capt. William S. Wright at the helm.

The Web site this morning shows the cruise ship off the southwestern Finnish coast.

The official naming ceremony for Oasis of the Seas will take place Nov. 30 during a one-night inaugural celebration and fundraiser to benefit the nonprofit Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Oasis of the Seasis scheduled to set sail Dec. 5 on her inaugural voyage.

The world's biggest and most expensive cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas cost $1.3 billion and can accommodate 6,360 passengers and 2,160 crew members.

The ship is the 21st for Royal Caribbean, with another one under construction.
