CLEVELAND -
The man who allegedly shot and killed a U.S. military veteran as he was withdrawing money from an ATM last week in East Cleveland has been indicted on several charges, reports Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason.
Initial charges of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery were filed against Damien Gantz, Cuyahoga County Prosecutors Office spokesperson Ryan Miday said.
According to Mason, 20-year-old Gantz was indicted Friday on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence, and kidnapping. He was also indicted on having weapons while under disability for a 2008 drug conviction.
Gantz allegedly used a gun to fatally shoot Terry Fitten, 49, in front of the US Bank automated teller machine located at 1813 Forest Hills Boulevard. Surveillance video from Oct. 21 captured the entire incident in which three shots were fired after a brief scuffle.
Gantz eventually turned himself into police. According to an ECPD spokesperson, relatives brought Gantz to the city's police station. He had been staying in Detroit with family members.
