PERKINS TOWNSHIP, Ohio -
A man walked into a Taco Bell in Perkins Township Monday night, ordered a 99 cent taco, and left the clerk $72.00 in change!
Taco Bell Manager, Kenny Lindsey, says the man told them it was a Christmas gift.
"He said, 'I don't need it so I want to pass it along,'" Lindsey tells Fox 8 News.
He said the man then said "Merry Christmas" and walked away.
The Taco Bell employees weren't quite sure what to do next, so they called the Perkins Township Police, located right across the street from their restaurant.
The employees say they suspected the man was intoxicated and feared he may come back for his money.
Police say they have the money in their possession...for now. But, if the man doesn't come forward to claim his money in the next 30 days, it goes back to the employees at the Taco Bell.
Employees tell Fox 8 News they're not sure what they'll do with the money if they get it back, but they say you could certainly get a lot of tacos with that kind of money.
Manager Kenny Lindsey agrees, "Our menu is one of the cheapest!"
