CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland EMS paramedic accused of assaulting two patients in the back of an ambulance has been cleared.

A jury found 44-year-old Glenn Burks, Jr. not guilty of gross sexual imposition and sexual battery Wednesday.

Prosecutors argued that the assaults took place on two separate occasions with two separate victims as they were being transported in the back of the ambulance.

Burks' attorneys say they were happy to see the jury agree that there wasn't sufficient evidence to support the claims.

"I've been serving for over 20 years and I know I'm a very good paramedic, and that hurt my feelings that accusations come against me, but I'm glad that a group of my peers saw my innocence and that I was accused falsely," Burks said after the verdict.

Burks was placed on administrative leave by the city of Cleveland and arrested in October. He said he wasn't sure if he would return to his job as a paramedic.
