FAIRLAWN, Ohio -
Nine Rolex watches valued at $77,000 are stolen from a local jewelry store in Fairlawn.
Monday night, the owner of "Shulan's Jewelers" called police after noticing the watches were missing.
"My guess is they've done this before. They're professional, very smooth at this," said Fairlawn Police Detective Dave Zampelli.
Surveillance video taken from the night of the robbery shows a man and a woman pacing around the store. As soon as the employees are out of sight, the male suspect walks behind the display counter and grabs the key to the watch case.
The suspect then crawls onto the ground, opens the case and steals nine Rolex watches. He hands the watches to a woman who shoves them in her purse.
As the suspects are getting ready to leave, the store's owner walks out. By the time he noticed the watches were missing, it was too late. Although the suspects ran out the front door, police did locate a shoe that was left behind from the male suspect.
"Obviously the shoe could lead to fingerprints or DNA evidence that may lead to the identity of the suspect," said Detective Zampelli.
Investigators believe four of the people who were in the store at the time of the robbery may have been involved. Police think two men and two women on the surveillance tape may have been posing as customers in order to distract employees.
Anyone with information that could help lead to an arrest is being asked to call Fairlawn Police.
