According to Solon Fire Chief William Shaw, a call came in around 12:49 a.m. to respond to 6549 Park North Drive -- at the Solon Park Apartments -- for a fire.
Firefighters then evacuated 20 units from the building. Investigators say the fire originated in a 3rd floor apartment on the stove.
Solon Fire was assisted with mutual aid from Bainbridge, Bedford Heights, Chagrin Falls and Orange Fire departments. Crews were able to get the fire under control by 1:50 a.m.
Chief Shaw says the apartment building suffered around $300,000 in damages. Three apartments are destroyed, and 17 apartments will be livable after cleaning.
No one had to be rescued from the blaze but one firefighter was treated for burns to his hand and wrist, according to Chief Shaw.
Investigators say the fire appears to be accidental.
