CLEVELAND, Ohio-- - The Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office has identified one of victims in Cleveland's suspected serial killings.

Cuyahoga County Coroner, Dr. Frank Miller III, as 52-year-old Tonia Carmichael of Warrensville Heights.

Wednesday afternoon, Carmichael's family received news that her body had been discovered in the backyard where Anthony Sowell lived on Imperial Avenue.

According to the victim's daughter, detectives told the family it appears she died of strangulation.

Family members told FOX8 News that Carmichael was last seen at her mother's home in Bedford Heights on November 10th, 2008. The day she disappeared, she told her mother she was going to the store but never returned.

According to Carmichael's daughter, family members filed a missing person's report with the Warrensville Heights Police Department.

Family members say in the days after her disappearance, they searched the areas where she was known to frequent and passed out fliers. A short time later, they discovered her car near East 118th and Kinsman.

Carmichael's family kept in touch with police throughout the investigation, but because of her prior drug use, family members believe authorities may have downplayed her disappearance. Carmichael's daughter says she does not know if her mother was an acquaintance of Sowell.

After numerous bodies were discovered at Sowell's home over the weekend, Carmichael's mother went to the Coroner's Office to give DNA samples.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesay afternoon, they received tragic news that Carmichael was identified as one of the victims.

Family members describe Carmichael as a fun-loving, caring mother, who loved to cook.
