AKRON, Ohio -- Akron Police are looking for a group of 30 to 50 boys who are accused of attacking a local family after a fireworks display.

It happened June 27th, after a fireworks display at Firestone Stadium.

The family walked to a friend's house on Girard after the show and they say, suddenly, the boys came out of no where.

"I had all these kids on me, hitting me in the back of the head, kicking me and just nonsense, over and over again," said Marty Marshall.

Marty's wife and two children tried to push the boys off him, while running for safety. "I just threw my son in the bushes and turned to get my daughter and she was already on the floor with blood coming from her mouth," said Yvonne Marshall.

Marty says the boys were all chanting while attacking. "They just kept chanting and yelling out", said Marshall.

"A couple of them said 'This is a black world' and the other ones sat there and were saying 'This is our world'.

The family says, after a few minutes, the boys took off. Marty Marshall was rushed to Akron General where he spent four days recovering from a concussion and multiple face and head injuries.

Akron police say so far, they have made no arrests and have no suspects.

Detective are still not sure if this was a hate crime or some type of gang initiation.
