AKRON, Ohio -- A group of volunteers is trying to clean-up a so called "cat house" and find new homes for dozens of animals.

The cats are victims of a sad combination of circumstances, an owner who is hoarding them and is now unable to make his house payments.

The Lakemore home is just outside Akron. It looks normal from the outside, but inside there are dozens of cats in all shapes and sizes.

An animal lovers are trying to help the homeowner. "People lose their homes, they lose their jobs and what do you think happens to their pets, you see the pets are the first ones to go." says Animal Rights Activist Eric Schickendantz.

The Humane Society of Greater Akron says overall foreclosure is a big problem for family pets. They have taken in an additional 500 abandoned pets this year.
