AKRON, Ohio -- Akron Police arrested a second man in connection with a February burglary and beating of a 12-pound dog.
Police say they received a tip call to the whereabouts of 22-year-old Lewis Napoleon Jr. and arrested him without incident on Susan Court in Akron Sunday.
Eighteen-year-old Melvin Prince Jr. was arrested last Tuesday for burglary and cruelty to animals for his alleged role in the crime. Prince is being held in the juvenile detention center because he was a juvenile at the time of the crime.
Detectives say there may be a third suspect.
Police say the suspects were involved in a burglary at a home on Morse Street in February. The burglars stole several items and severely beat the family's 12 pound Shih Tzu named Suzie. The dog had to be put to sleep.
Paulette Hixenbaugh, Suzie's owner, said when she found the dog she was bleeding and motionless. Hixenbaugh said she wants justice for Suzie. She is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. An anonymous donor has pledged a matching $5,000 reward.
Anyone with information about the crime should call Akron Police at (330)375-2490.
