Kathleen Cochrane joined the Fox 8 News team as a general assignment reporter in March of 2005. She can be seen nightly on Fox 8 News at Ten.
Prior to joining Fox 8, Kathleen worked as morning anchor for News 14 Carolina in Charlotte, N.C., from 2002-05. She also spent a year as both reporter and anchor for WTAP–TV in Parkersburg, W.Va.
Kathleen is a graduate of Parkersburg High School in West Virginia. She then went on to attend the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. She also studied abroad at the University of Wales in Cardiff, Wales. Kathleen was awarded the North Carolina AP Award for "Best Series" and was named "West Virginia High School Journalist of the Year."
Known for her "known for her outterwear," Kathleen was selected to be a celebrity model in Cleveland Fashion Week. She was also featured in The Cleveland Plain Dealer for the variety of hats that she wears while braving the brutal winter months reporting in northeast Ohio.
Whether it's winter weather of breaking news, Kathleen is prepared for anything.
In 2007, Kathleen was covering a candlelight vigil for a 14 year old boy who was shot and killed on his way home from school, when shots were fired into the crowd.
Moments later, more shots were fired and police arrested a suspect.
The story won Kathleen an Emmy for Spot News from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Lower Great Lakes Chapter.
Kathleen is involved in many charities in the Cleveland Area, including the Parma Area Relay for Life and the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland.
In her spare time, Kathleen enjoys spending time with her husband, Dean DePiero, who is also the mayor of Parma, OH.
The two love boating, biking and spending time with their dog, Bailey.
