Robert L. Webb Jr., 28, of Seaford, Del., faces numerous charges, including assault, possessing a deadly weapon and endangering a child. Police said they responded to a call on Monday and learned that the 7-year-old girl was assaulted by her father over completion of homework.
Webb allegedly was angered over the manner in which the girl was completing her homework.
He punched the girl in the arm and then placed a knife against the girl's cheek causing it to bleed.
During the incident, several other siblings saw or heard the threats.
Troopers later learned the victim was kept out of school for several days presumably until the victim could heal from the assault.
Webb was later remanded to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $19,000 cash bail.
