An online chat from 68-year-old William Love's home in Twinsburg brought police from more than 100 miles away to make an arrest.
Bethesda Police arrested Love Saturday at his home on Westwood Drive for dissemenating materials harmful to a minor.
Bethesda Police Chief Tim Zdanski said his office was conducting an undercover internet sting. He said Love started chatting with an officer posing as a 10-year-old girl, and the conversation quickly turned to sex.
"We've had three total chats with Mr. Love and during those he became sexually explicit. Mr. Love sent pictures of couples engaged in sexual acts and videos as well," Zdanski said.
In one of the chats police said Love said he had sexual contact with a young girl, which prompted them to move quickly for an arrest.
"We had heard through the grapevine that he was investigated a couple of years ago and I have teenage kids and they were all warned to stay away from him, but I didn't know for a fact," neighbor Denise Billings said.
Others in Love's neighborhood who knew him were shocked by the allegation. Cindy Rapkin grew up near Love and his family.
"I have children in my house a 9-year-old and a 19-year-old and you hate to think someone in your neighborhood was doing that kind of thing. It's shocking," Rapkin said.
Love is being held in the Belmont County Jail. Twinsburg Police continue their investigation to determine if there are more victims.
