WARREN, Ohio -- It's the video that has scored thousands of hits on Web sites like YouTube. A squirrel pops out of a woman's tank top while she's talking to a police detective about a friend of hers who was a suspect in a murder investigation.
We now know that mystery woman is 26-year-old Amber Finney of Warren. She is an animal lover, and the squirrel was given to her by a friend who found it laying in the street.
Finney says "it had a broken leg and he knew that I had taken care of a lot of dogs and cats in my life."
We asked why she placed the squirrel in her shirt when she went to the police department. Finney told us "everybody knows you cannot take an animal into the police station, well this animal needed 24 hour care and I couldn't just leave it outside so the only place I could hide it was in my shirt."
Finney says Warren Police detective Wayne Mackie never said a word when the squirrel suddenly appeared on her chest. As for the animal, she says his leg has now healed and she decided to set him free.
Finney is happy to report she occasionally sees the squirrel running around her neighborhood.
She was shocked to learn that the video of his appearance at the police station is now being viewed all over the world, telling Fox 8 "When I walked into the store down the street, he said 'hey you were on TV."
