BARBERTON, Ohio -- Police removed 23 gambling machines from a tanning salon they say was serving as a front for a gambling room.
Thursday police served a search warrant at 556 5th Street NE. Chief Michael Kallai says the raid came after a six week investigation.
"It looked like a legitimate tanning business up front and people would go into the tanning salon and end up going back and playing the games," Kallai said.
Police arrested brothers Raymond E. Holley, 33, and Jeffrey N. Holley, 24, for gambling, operating a gambling house, and possession of criminal tools. Kallai says they were paying out cash prizes, which is illegal in Ohio.
"That parking lot was jam packed every night, they had a lot of business," neighbor Starr Crago said.
Neighbors say people came and went from the alleged gambling room constantly. They say everyone in the neighborhood knew what was going on there.
"It wasn't a secret everybody knew that it was going on, but we didn't know about the cash payouts," Crago said.
The Holley brothers declined to comment.
Barberton police say they expect more arrests to come as a result of their investigation.
